Recently the home builder known as Porter Davis went into liquidation: https://www.theage.com.au/politics/victoria/15m-rescue-package-for-homeowners-after-porter-davis-collapse-20230420-p5d1wj.html What does this mean for those customers and homeowners who signed build contracts with them to complete their home or dealing with defective building work? Upon the company going into liquidation its builders licence was cancelled by the QBCC. This then triggered the 3-month time frame within which customers/homeowners can lodge a claim with the QBCC. This is a very strict time frame to follow. Further, it is also unfortunate that under the Qld Home Warranty Insurance Scheme with the QBCC the maximum amount that can be claimed is $200,000 or $300,000 if the top up was taken out by the customer at the start.
