In this segment we helped out a listener who got himself into a trick situation when selling a motor vehicle and the bank cheque could not be accepted. We discuss how bank cheques are not cash and if you are intending to sell a motor vehicle or another item similar, there is a process to follow to ensure you receive cleared funds in your account before you hand over that vehicle, trailer, caravan or other item to your buyer. A few handy tips that could make all the difference. And, if need be, lodge a security over that vehicle under the PPSA https://www.ppsr.gov.au/ (Personal Properties Securities Register) until monies received. We chat about that process as well.
