The biggest overhaul to property law in Qld in 50 years!!!
We have finally arrived at this destination with the passing of the Property Law Bill. What a momumentos stepping stone for Qld property lawyers and practitioners, consumers and those passionate about property.
There have been many posts already, mine is from a perspective of gratitude to those who have selflessly dedicated their personal time and effort into achieving this significant milestone for Qld. In particular QUT (Queensland University of Technology),Sharon Christensen, all members of theQueensland Law Society Property and Development Law Committee and the Department of Justice and Attorney General.
As many of you know already, the Bill has been passed but is not law yet. Between now and then, Priala Legal intends to liaise with many of our agents we work with in the coming months to ensure they are well informed of the new seller disclosure regime in particular, and are prepared for what lies ahead, once the new seller disclosure form has been issued and is in publication, which it is not as yet. The Attorney General in Qld has committed to providing ample time to allow us all to transition to the new regime with many significant changes to contracts and leases having been passed.
Having the privilege of being a committee member of the Queensland Law Society Property and Development Law Committee for the past almost 18 months, I have had the fortune of seeing this bill unfold to where it is today and it has been an incredible journey.
