Off the Plan contracts in Qld is what this segment is all about. Sunset date law changes are finally here. Laws have been passed by Qld Parliament, just waiting Royal Assent at the time this video is posted. But, a few things to understand clearly: 1. The laws DO NOT apply to all off the plan contracts. 2. They only apply to the purchase of land off the plan in Qld, not body corporate off the plan contracts, such as high rise apartments, mid rise, townhouses and duplexes. 3. The laws are retrospective. Yes folks they are, unusual but overall the more equitable and fair approach. If you are under contract now for an off the plan purchase, and you have yet to settle, these laws apply to you if you are buying land only. Very powerful. 4. The Qld Government will sit and watch for the next 1-2 years and will undertake a review of these new laws to hopefully, have them apply to all off the plan purchases and contracts in Qld. This segment explains the new laws, how it works, and why developers will no longer be able to simply terminate an off the plan contract unilaterally, at the end of the sunset date period.
