As of 28 October 2023, there are new laws in the ACT that will decriminalise the use of 9 illicit drugs. A law that was actually passed 12 months ago which seems to have flown under the radar. ACT is the only jurisdiction in Australian to decriminalise hard core drug use under the umbrella supposedly of being a "health response" to the community. Only time will tell if this is truly a health response or a disaster waiting to happen in Australia. Just after the show aired there was an article published in The Australian by Peter Dutton, where he has vowed to seek to reverse these laws.
