In this segment of Talking Law, we discuss how keeping your address for service of notices up to date can be so important, from your ASIC registered address for your company and business, to your address in your lease and for your mortgage. By not updating your address for service of notices does not mean you will never be sued, or taken to court. It just means you are delaying the inevitable. It also means you are not giving yourself a chance at possibly defending the matter early or negotiating a settlement. Everything has a deadline. It is better to be well informed to be able to make a decision then burying your head in the sand and hoping it will all go away. It doesn't work like that.
